AVE 7 HOUSE is a renovated late 19th century home, located in a historic building in the central neighborhood of La Seu de Valencia by DG Estudio. DG is an architecture and interior design studio based in Valencia specializing in new construction projects, reforms, interior design, and rehabilitation, and described this renovation as a big challenge. It is a unique space within the city of Valencia where marble floors, Nolla pavements, wooden paneling, and staircase ceilings with more than 100 years of history are preserved.

The team discovered three of its rooms to be in an excellent state of conservation, and they have later restored: the dining room, which features a lovely Nolla floor, the living room, which features distinctive moldings, and the study, where paintings by Antonio Cortina greet visitors.

The kitchen, which was created in association with Mobalco Valencia, consists of a big island that serves as the room’s focal point and a section of columns that are built into the wall panel system. Incorporating some of the kitchen cabinets, bedroom doors, entrance, bathrooms, laundry room, etc, was made possible by a succession of panelboards. They have employed a system to create these contraventions that are quite reminiscent of the paneling used in the studio area where the door and cabinets were merged.
The main requirement of the clients was to maintain all these original elements while minimally altering the spaces to ensure that the house adapts to the new times, with new facilities, open spaces, and all the comforts of a contemporary home.
For DG Estudio, working in a house with these characteristics has been a great opportunity and quite a challenge. The AVE 7 House project has required great planning and that has been possible thanks to a great team and fantastic clients.
